Force Techniques - Often involve a quick force through a joint

  • Quick and short force through a joint
  • Often results in a pop sound (cavitation), which is a release of gas in the joint
  • Most frequently used manual adjustment
  • A specific type of adjustment that doesn’t focus too much on rotation
  • Still often results in a cavitation
  • A variation of the Diversified technique that uses a drop table or portable drop piece
  • Used to distract a joint before adjusting
  • Cavitation may or may not happen
  • Good for patients who are uncomfortable with rotation or the pop sounds
  • For pregnancy patients
  • Uses specific types of adjustments and soft tissue releases to and around the pelvis and sacrum
  • Helps with breech pregnancies and SI joint dysfunction

Non-Force Techniques

  • Uses wedge looking blocks under the pelvis to treat the low back
  • Utilizes gravity and body weight of the patient to deliver adjustment rather than a force
  • Can also apply pressures to the skull for treatment
  • Gentle and low-force
  • Most frequently used instrument assisted adjustment
  • Fast and sometimes more comfortable
  • Rehabilitates the nerves in a customized way to help the body heal itself
  • Wakes up the nervous system to function at its original state
  • Uses specific adjustments to the cranial bones to provide relief. Sources: https://chiro.org/LINKS/ABSTRACTS/Chiropractic_Techniques.shtml https://quantumneurology.com

Soft Tissue

  • Falls under instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization
  • Uses a tool to massage or scrape the skin gently
  • An attempt to break up scar tissue and areas of muscular restriction
  • The practitioner applies cups on the skin to create suction
  • Increase in blood flow helps increase healing of the muscle
  • Uses rapid percussion to increase blood flow in muscles
  • Short term relief for tight and painful muscles, ligaments, and tendons
  • Great to use after working out to help with muscle recovery
  • Tape is applied on the skin in a specific direction in a way to lift the skin from the tissues
  • It assists with draining lymphatic fluids often during sprains, correcting overall posture, and assisting in proper movement techniques Sources: https://www.spine-health.com/treatment/chiropractic/graston-technique instrument-assisted-soft-tissue-manual-therapy-back-pain

BOTANICAL MEDECINE

Uses different parts of plants or herbs in order to treat and/or prevent diseases. Can be sold as dietary supplements.

DETOXIFICATION

Nutritional detox is usually a short term process of eliminating toxins from the body (often through the liver and kidneys). Some common ways are through fasting, herbs, teas, and strict diets of fruits and vegetables. Heavy metal detoxification or chelation therapy removes excess heavy metals from the body. Can be done through diet or an infrared sauna.

COMPREHENSIVE STOOL ANALYSIS

Detects possible yeast, parasites, and/or bacteria in the intestinal tract that may be causing illness and disease. Often used for checking reasons for GI tract function and health, and inflammation.

VITAMINS AND MINERALS ANALYSIS

Often tests for deficiencies in these micronutrients. Can use a fingerprint or venous blood sample for analysis. Supplementation is often the next step in treatment. Some common deficiencies are iron, vitamin D, calcium, vitamin B12, and magnesium.

NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING

Nutritionist works with the patient to set health goals in regards to diet and exercise.
